6 weeks old

So here are some recent pictures. He smiles quite a bit but I can never seem to get pictures of him when he does. I just weighed him with me on the scale a couple days ago and he weighs about 13 lbs now. He's growing so fast. There's nothing really exciting about these pictures and no stories to go with them but I know the family in Oklahoma is looking for more recent pictures and I'm here to please the crowd.
Rise and shine. He loves to stretch.
He was really having a good time on this play mat... until he couldn't figure out how to let go of the rings. He's new at playing.Sometimes he's very mellow...and sometimes he's very crazy.
Here's what I like to call his baby bird pose. I think he's just hoping food drops right in his mouth when he does this.

The Love of My Life

I will preface this post by saying this is not for those with a weak stomach...for some it might be nauseating. Yesterday I was thinking about how blessed I am to have Scott as my husband. We just had our 2nd anniversary on May 19th and with the craziness of just having a baby I never took the time to mention how great he is. So I thought I'd dote on my amazing husband and talk a little bit about our history together.Well everything about him is literally perfect for me...no I didn't say he's perfect but Heavenly Father definitely knew what He was doing when He put us together. I actually didn't like him much when we first met because he seemed like he was "too cool" for everyone and everything. Eventually I figured out that he's actually just laid back and reserved and we became friends. We would hang out all the time, text all day at work, and talk on the phone all night...but just as friends. We would even talk to each other about dates we went on, who we were interested in, and give helpful suggestions (from the opposite sex's point of view) on how to "work it." As much as I give him a hard time about it, I will finally admit he made all the moves but, because Scott has a tendancy to be very coy and aloof, I didn't pick up on it at first. He stopped talking about other girls and kept making sure he hung out with me alone (without his roommates) though he couldn't just ask me on a date because that would be too obvious...as I said, "coy" and "aloof." He also went shopping with me, which, anyone who has gone with me knows is literally a day long event where I go to all the stores multiple times and try on the same outfits two or three times so I can ultimately make a decision and determine where I can get what looks best on me for the best value at the best price. My roommate at the time who had "suffered" (her words, not mine) through this with me before convinced me that any guy who does that and still wants to hang out afterwards is looking for more than friendship. One night we were watching a movie and Scott crossed the friendship line. He just cuddled up to me and gave me a kiss. That was it. Six months later we were married.

In addition to his obvious good looks, there are so many things that I just love about Scott. He's not like anyone I've ever met...the perfect combination of a "man's man" who loves cars, sports, and power tools and a caring, loving, sensitive man who doesn't like video games (yay). He's probably going to kill me for writing this. Anyway, he's funny, smart, dependable, respectful, hard working, organized, spiritual...everything a girl could ask for. He's an amazing husband who always helps with the cooking, cleaning and laundry. If it wasn't for him our bills wouldn't get paid, the yard and pool would be a disaster, and we would only have one email : ). That last one was kind of an inside joke. Scott's not the most romantic guy I've ever met but it's the little things that he does that I love so much. He goes grocery shopping, watches chick flicks, and gives me massages. He cares so much about making me happy and treats me like a princess. Since Logan was born he's called or texted every day to make sure we're doing ok. Almost every week I'll come home from young womens and he'll have the floor mopped or vacuumed. A couple weeks ago he found out that our TV has a feature where you can put a note on it and program it to pop up every day at a certain time. So he secretly wrote me a little love note and the next day while I was watching Ellen it popped up. It was a great surprise. He's also such an amazing dad. Once he gets home from work, he goes straight to Logan to give him a kiss and play with him. To give me a break once he gets home from work, he takes over by changing all the diapers and taking care of Logan when he gets fussy. It really is the sweetest thing to see them together. He just loves to cuddle up to his "little guy."

It's so interesting that opposites attract, or at least that's true in our case. Scott is level headed and I'm neurotic. He's responsible and I procrastinate everything. He's subtle and I'm blunt. He likes to keep things to himself and I talk about every thought and feeling. He just likes to get things done and I'm a perfectionist. That's why he's perfect for me. It's like that cliche line from that movie I've never seen, he "completes me." Even though he's much more easygoing than I am, he doesn't let me dominate everything and he keeps me in line. He makes up for what I'm lacking and helps me become better...the type of person I'm supposed to be. The few things I've mentioned really don't even do him justice. I can't put into words how much he means to me. After 2 years I never would've guessed that my love for him would grow so much. I thank God every day that He blessed me with Scott as my husband forever. Each day I fall more and more in love with him.

It never fails...

Logan always seems to have perfect timing when he does, well, practically anything. He peed on the nurse after he was born as soon as she took the blanket off him. He screams and cries right when it gets really quiet in church. He pooped on the carpet the second Scott moved the diaper to put on the new one. He spits up on me right after I put on a new clean outfit...you get the idea. Well yesterday was no exception. We had been doing laundry the past couple days and I was on the last load. Logan had just been put down for a nap so I thought it was the perfect time to put in the cover to his bounce seat since there is no place, except for maybe in my arms, that makes him happier. I was actually really excited about this because it was well overdue as his spit up was crusted all over it and, if it wasn't a necessity to keep him from crying, I would've felt guilty putting him in there. Right before he woke up, the laundry was done and I put the cover back on his seat. We were getting ready to go somewhere so I fed him, changed his diaper, and put on a new outfit. I put him in the seat for a minute while I packed up the bag and put it in the car. When I picked him up to go he, of course, had made a mess all over the perfectly clean seat and right after I put clean clothes and a clean diaper on him. Well he couldn't stop there. As I was changing his diaper...again and putting yet another clean outfit on him, he managed to pee right on me during those two seconds that "it" was not shielded. Needless to say, it was quite the ordeal getting out of the house yesterday. It never fails...he really does have perfect timing.

Poll

So I don't want to dwell on this subject as it created a rather awkward, embarrassing situation for me. But I have talked to a couple people about my previous post regarding tipping your hairdresser and it seems that everyone has a different idea of what is appropriate. So I thought I would take a poll and see what everyone thinks. Do you think you should tip? How much should you tip? Are there different rules for tipping if you go to their house than if you go to a salon? Just curious...

Accomplishments...

So I thought I'd write about what I've done this week. Though I love being home with Logan, sometimes I'll think about the day and can't come up with anything that I've done besides feeding him, changing him, and putting him to bed. I was thinking about this past week and decided there were some things that I accomplished this week. I'm thinking that by acknowledging them, I'll feel a little more productive with my time.
1. I took Logan to the doctor on monday for his one month appointment. He's now 10 lbs 15 oz and is 21 and 3/4 of an inch long. Being the neurotic, paranoid new mother that I am, I asked tons of questions like I always do about things I've been concerned about. The doctor assured me that he's perfect and that his congested nose and crying spells every time he goes potty (yeah I said potty) is completely normal. I was a little skeptical. I mean, she's not around him all the time like I am, but I figure since she's the one who went to medical school and I have absolutely no mommy training (if only there was such a thing), that I'd have to trust she knows what she's talking about.
2. I finished the book The Boy in the Striped Pajamas which is a short book and not a huge accomplishment but lately reading hasn't quite been at the top of my priority list as it once was. It was a really good book but a little predictable. We also went to the library to drop it off. Logan loves outings but it's totally out of my comfort zone with him so I'm proud of myself for just getting out with him.
3. I fancied up a bin in Logan's room and made letters to hang on his wall. I haven't done the decorating part of the nursery but when I do, hopefully soon, I'll post some pictures.

4. I got my hair done. Wahoo! It's been 4 months since I've done that so it was seriously overdue. After feeling so uncomfortable and not myself for such a long time, not to mention frumpy and just plain disgusting, it felt great. I was also informed by Scott that the exact same rules for tipping apply when you get your hair done as when you go to a restaurant. I thought you just give a few extra dollars or whatever you have in your wallet on top of the price and call it good. I know...I know. Scott is very embarrassed of me. I'm 26 and I've been getting my hair done since I was like 12 so how I never picked up on this I'll never know. Being the confrontational person that I am and trying to make ammends for the embarrassment that I am, I went back to the girl that did my hair the next day to give her a tip to cover this time and last. Hopefully word hasn't gotten around about what a cheap skate I am.

5. Went grocery shopping. We haven't been grocery shopping in 3 months so this was a pretty big deal. To be honest, grocery shopping is literally one of my least favorite things to do so I put it off until it becomes this huge, daunting task. Usually I make the list and give instructions and Scott just goes or we go together. The problem I have is ever since I figured out how to shop frugally by using the ads, coupons, and price matching, grocery shopping has become quite a chore. And since I know the amount of money I can save when I work hard at it, I can never bring myself to just go shopping and buy what I need without researching it to make sure I'm getting the best deal possible. I've always prided myself on my shopping skills. Even after I find what I'm looking for I'll go to every store just to make sure that's the best deal out there. So I should enjoy doing the same with grocery shopping but I just don't get the same rush when I find a really good deal on milk as I do when I get a great pair of stilettos. It's a really silly issue and I'm sure would not be that big of a deal if I just didn't procrastinate it. I've made a new goal, with Scott's coaxing, that I will go to the grocery store every week after the ads come out and just get what we need and what is on sale so I don't feel so overwhelmed when I finally go. Now that I've mentioned this, hopefully I'll be accountable for it.

6. Went to work to parade Logan around. Everyone's been asking about when we're coming up so we finally went. The little stinker stayed asleep the whole time but I guess it's better than being awake and cranky.
For now that's all I can think of but it's only Friday and who knows what next week has in store for us : ) Here's some pictures from this week. He's 5 weeks now.

I think babies in overalls are so cute...

but Logan isn's such a fan.

More Logan...

These pictures were taken when Logan was about 3 weeks old. As you can see he hasn't missed a meal.No. He's not always happy. This is what happens when he forgets to keep that thing in his mouth and no matter how hard he tries he can never get it back in.These are the most recent pictures taken within the past week so here he's about 4 weeks old.We decided he needed his little sneakers on to go to the store. Here's a little father son bonding. Scott decided he and Logan needed to watch the NBA playoffs together. He's convinced Logan is already into sports.
After getting peed on every time I fed him and washing his sheets a few times this past week I determined Logan has officially graduated from newborn diapers and is now in size 1's. I have to say I didn't want to admit that he was already growing that fast.

Nana is Here

When Logan was 10 days old my mom came in town from Oklahoma. It worked out perfectly because she got here just 2 days after he was released from the hospital the second time. It was great having her here to help me with the cooking, cleaning, laundry and anything else I needed help with but what she really came here for was to just spoil her little grandbaby rotten, or "meeting his needs well" as she would say. Of course ever since she found out I was pregnant she's been looking forward to doing just that and has been updating everyone on his growth since he was just a little bean...including her 3rd grade class and all the teachers she works with. After Logan was born she had a little party and brought blue cookies in so they could all celebrate. Apparently even the other teachers consider Logan an addition to their family. Needless to say, she's a very proud grandma. We got to spend Mother's Day togther and had a lot of fun just hanging out. Toward the end of her stay, every time we talked about her going home she got all teary-eyed. We were pretty sad to see her go too. We just need to get grandpa out here now. The good news is this little guy has gotten my parents talking about buying a house and moving out here someday. I haven't been able to presuade them to move out here on my own but I knew once there were grandchildren involved they just wouldn't be able to resist.Scott and I had our 2 year anniversary on May 19 so while my mom was here she watched Logan and gave us a night out. These are just some pictures we took during the time my mom was here. Logan was between 10 and 20 days old in these pictures.

All this talk about my mom being such a proud grandma I have to say we're pretty proud parents as well. We literally could just watch him for hours and never get tired of it.

Scrub a dub dub...

Here is one of Logan's very first baths. He's not a fan of being wet, cold, naked or clean so bath time is not his favorite. This is Logan in his little robe after a bath we gave him this weekend. He's 4 weeks in these pictures. Look how much he's grown.
